Sometime in November of 2008, nearly a month after the release of F3 (yeah, time travel. Gotta love it. - Darrin Garcia), Emile Christ, Jamie Smith, and Evan Sentan hosted a Black Isle-to-Fallout comparison on Spike TV (The Australia Airing), based on the differences of the previous Fallout games to number three by Bethesda. A wave of videos were soon hit on Mars TV, GTTV, G4TV, and the European gaming channel The Gaming Jerks.
Not particularly fresh, but until Scott Garcia and I help finish the site with Elinor (hope we finish, too f-in' busy), I might as well write about something. Here's what they talked about:
Part I: The Quests and Karma of Fallout (Emile's part)
The Fallout games are popular for having a karma system. Take the Fallout 3 quests in Paradise Falls. There are quests where you have to find slaves, putting on a slave collar for them, forcing them to run from their city to Paradise Falls unless the collar blows up. If they make it back, you get a reward, and a new collar. This can be repeated over and over again until you're as evil as Hitler. Whereas, in Fallout 2, there aren't as many karma decisions. Kill a few hobos and pick locks from vendors and you're Satan. Complete some quests for the NCR or help capture food for insane people and you're the fuckin' messiah. Fallout 3 can ruin a perfectly good reputation, or a neutral rep, or an evil rep.
The quests of Fallout 3 feel a little more diverse than Black Isle's generation, not to mention different. In the Black Isle games, there were various legions, expansive camps, and factions you can complete various quests for. These can be as simple as capture an objective or kill a few bandits, or more complex like getting something called the G.E.C.K. from a Vault. Fallout 3's mostly follow a story, unless they are unmarked quests, like the "Oasis" quest where you have to help a recurring character from the Fallout games' mutation troubles. They're both really diverse, but Fallout 3's tend to follow more a story and background.
Part II: The Survival and Choices of Fallout (Evan's part)
Like The Master in Fallout 1, there's always going to be someone big to fight. In Fallout 3, you have decisions on who you want to fight. Be a good little angel, and you can choose to fight against the Enclave factions and slavers. Be bad, and you can choose to fight against the Brotherhood and kill civilians. Be neutral, and that's your decision. There's a lot of decisions you have to make in the Fallout games, no matter who makes them. In Fallout 3, make a good or bad decision and somebody will hunt you down, curse your name, while others admire you situation and mark you as an ally. In Fallout 1 and 2, your decisions matter to the entire world. Do a bad decision, everybody considers you bad. Do a good decision, and everybody considers that a good aspect of your personality.
And survival is important as well. Weapon conditions in Fallout 3 are more important. Run your condition down, and you'll either have to psychically repair it yourself, or pay some caps to a vendor to have them repair you. If you have a crippled lamb, you can choose to waste a Stimpack and heal yourself then, instead of later, or pay for a doctor to help you. It all depends on how you play. If a door's locked, you can either walk away, or risk picking the lock yourself, hoping the bobby pin won't break, or someone won't catch you. If a price for a superb armor piece is too high, you can give up a precious weapon that can give you the money, or just make with what you have and repair your own armor. Fallout 1 and 2 also follow these decisions with the same intense survival instincts.
Part III: The Leveling Of Fallout (Michael's part)
As with most RPGs, MMOs, and CRPGS, your level is an important part. Go wandering into the wasteland with a low-level pistol and only a few health packs, you more than likely won't see the light of day, but you'll deal with only slightly higher-level enemies. Go wandering with a high-caliber plasma rifle and strong body armor, then you'll have a good chance, but you're more than likely encounter groups of enemies who are just as tough.
The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. skills and perks are also important, especially in the first two Fallout games (Nah, not really! - Elinor Bass) . If you decide to level up the Big Guns, Medicine, and Speech skill for a not-so-distant encounter, you could be leveling up Explosives and Lockpick for a farther away encounter. In Fallout 3, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. skills, whereas the first Fallout games highly depended on perks / attributes, are also important. Level up your strength and endurance, and you could have body armor that lasts several magazine hits. Don't level up the Intelligence, you might not be able to think your way out of a smart speech. Don't level up the Perception, and you might not be able to see or hear the enemy near you before he slits your throat.

I have to admit, that's rather impressive, their various perspectives on everything. (Oh, and not all of us were invited. I'm half posting this up just for the hell of it, 25% because I want to feel better about not getting invited, 20% because it's informative, and 5% because I want everybody to shut the hell up.)

The Vault - Entry 10 - Interview on the TCAF Forums, Big Shock
Finn Smith and I got invited to an interview on the TCAF (The Chat about Fallout) forums' chatroom section. One question, and then the answer, would shock the entire now-defunct website. (If I could just get the damn link to work, I could show the entire, unedited chat script (which is large and sloppy, many thanks to Alice Thompson for clearing up the unwanted parts).
The participants:
- Alec Martin (TF141Soldier)
- Finn Smith (TF141Joystick)
- Alan Sean (The Main Interviewer, Sean58)
- JoHn Henry EdEn
- outcast3

Other Thanks:

- Nick Vancen (TF141Paradise - Moderator, extra thanks)
Sean58: Alright, am I in? [Various welcomes]
Capitolwanderez: Alright, who will start?
Sean58: So how is Fallout Online coming along?
TF141Soldier: Well, we're getting closer every day. I'd like to thank Masthead for their attempts. Unfortunately, Bethesda lost at the Maryland Court.
Capitolwanderez: Man. Does that mean the game will continue?
TF141Joystick: It will. But here's the thing: We're sure that Interplay's going to go back to the old Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, and Brotherhood of Steel third-person gameplay. And we do prefer the new version, but we really don't mind.
TF141Soldier: Exactly. Our problem is that it will be an MMO.
rivetcitymp3: Fallout was meant to be a role-playing game, not a shitty ass MMO.
Sean58: Good observations, indeed. When did Bethesda lose the case?
JoHn Henry EdEn: World of Warcraft is probably the single shittiest game ever created.
TF141Soldier: On December 9th of 2009. That's kind of a shame, really. We've been through with Bethesda for so long. They've helped us know what it takes to make it in the game industry, and Fallout Online is IMPORTANT, because you learn how retarded the game industry can be. It's nothing short of amazing. Bethesda knows what they're doing. Fallout has become THEIR baby, not Interplay's, not Black Isle's, not anybody's. Just them. (THIS WAS THE COMMENT. - ALEC)
Capitolwanderez: Whoa. Amazing description, there, Alec.
TF141Soldier: Thanks.
Capitolwanderez: Let me ask a question: do you think that Interplay IS going to fuck up the whole experience?
TF141Joystick: We have respect for Interplay, but, unfortunately, they're not going to be the same as they were nearly 15 years ago.
TF141Joystick: I'm willing to bet they chose an MMO just to see how many player hours would be put into the game like the excuse to humanity that is World of Warcraft. (Thank you, Finn! - Emile Christ)
Sean58: How many countries is Fallout Online going to be released in?
TF141Joystick: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Spain, The Philippines, New Zealand, France, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
Capitolwanderez: Wait... is that how many subtitles are included?
outcast3: Isn't it also in The Netherlands?
TF141Soldier: No, I'm sure they will be exclusive to the countries.
Sean58: What's your opinions on the whole idea to create a multiplayer feel and experience to the Wasteland?
JoHn Henry EdEn: I'm pretty sure it won't be great. Playing alone in Fallout was better.
outcast3: Yeah, say it!
TF141Soldier: Well, I sorta share JHE's opinion. Watching how this whole damned project has fallen apart, I think the large amount of players just might infect the entire gaming experience, but, on the other hand, it's inventive giving something completely brand new to the series.
JoHn Henry EdEn: Speaking of multiplayer, can you form alliances with one another to help take on quests?
rivetcitymp3: Oh, that would be awesome!
TF141Joystick: Co-op in Fallout? Sounds awesome, actually.
TF141Soldier: My thoughts exactly. Instead of a massive multiplayer world full of idiots who do nothing but hack and mod, just play along with one another.
TF141Joystick: I've actually wanted a mulitplayer experience ever since the production of New Vegas.
Sean58: I take it that idea didn't go so well?
rivetcitymp3: Don't think so. LOL
rivetcitymp3: Are there going to be vehicles?
Sean58: That would be pretty interesting. Driving around in an armored jeep in the Wasteland.
Capitolwanderez: doing nothing but runnin' over Raiders. Hell yeah!
TF141Joystick: I think Alec might have covered this already, but, yes, vehicles will also be a new addition. At least, we're hoping it will.
Sean58: What about downloadable packs? Or, expansions?
outcast3: What, make an otherwise questionable experience worse?
TF141Soldier: Hmm... I hope not. Like Outcast said, we wanted Fallout Online to be an epic, to be the next Fallout 3. After Bethesda lost the case, Masthead and Interplay are taking over. We need to have a better experience for every Fallout fan out there.
TF141Joystick: Exactly. Not only is the idea for an MMO an insult to the Fallout series, it's only going to attract 'n00bs' or 'griefers', as they so call it. And eventually, there's going to be an experience that 90% of is hacked, modded, or insultingly annoying.
Capitolwanderez: Seems that piracy will soon overtake Online.
Sean58: My thoughts exactly.
TF141Soldier: Piracy? Don't get me started.
JoHn Henry EdEn: I'm pretty sure some people are already happily playing the Online beta on their ever-loved couch right now.
outcast3: Speaking of which, when's the beta coming out?
TF141Soldier: The currect legal status of the Bethesda vs. Interplay IS still pending, but Interplay's winning. We're betting by the middle or closer to the end of this year.
Captiolwanderez: You know, how long DO we have to wait? This isn't an insult to Bethesda at all, but if you want a game done, to set ambitions and expectations like none other, why not just... you know, throw in the towel?
TF141Joystick: Interesting criticism you gave there. We're not exactly sure, it appears that whatever Bethesda tries, it continues to backfire on them.
Sean58: What will the Interactive Game Group have to do with the final project?
rivetcitymp3: Why's that a question? So far, it's only Interplay, TF141 Media, and Masthead involved in the project.
TF141Soldier: They gave about $2,000,000 in stock, hoping for a contract.
JoHn Henry EdEn: But Masthead took their place.
Sean58: Precisely.
TF141Joystick: Hm-mmm.
Sean58: I thought Bethesda already purchased rights to Project V13. That makes Interplay guilty, doesn't it?
TF141Soldier: By all means. They stole it away from them.
TF141Joystick: We're one of the sister companies of the network, so we're going to have to go with whatever comes our way, whatever rumor is spread around.
rivetcitymp3: Is there anybody that quit the project already?
Capitolwanderez: Pretty sure the president won't be happy 'bout this.
TF141Joystick: Jason Anderson. Worked on the project for a sturdy two years before quitting. We'll miss ya, dude.
JoHn Henry EdEn: Shame, I thought Interplay had already lost the rights before Bethesda seemingly lost the case.
Capitolwanderez: Ah. Good observation.
TF141Soldier: Of course. For some reason, I don't think some companies know when to stop. We do have respect for Interplay, but there's too much attention being thrown around. On the upside, though, since the case is pending, Bethesda had time to work on Fallout 4 and New Vegas.
Sean58: But it would of been nice to see Bethesda's fingerprints on the project.
TF141Joystick: Couldn't agree with you more, Alan.
Sean58: Well, that's it. Thanks for sharing the ammo.
TF141Soldier: No problem.

Fallout Online 4 - Online Chat with crimson666angel
What was amazing about the experience was that I got to talk to this girl and introduce her to something extraordinary like this. Anyways, enjoy, some valuable information in here.
crimson666angel (5:14:31 PM): Hey, what`s Fallout Online?
tf141soldier (5:14:39 PM): Ah, good to see someone.
crimson666angel (5:14:51 PM): Hehe, I know nothign however
crimson666angel (5:14:53 PM): *ng
tf141soldier (5:15:02 PM): Fallout Online is an online multiplayer game we're working on to the popular Fallout series.
crimson666angel (5:15:17 PM): Hmm, I`m guessing tis a shooter game?
tf141soldier (5:15:24 PM): Unlike the last games that were single player only, it's online.
tf141soldier (5:15:28 PM): It's an RPG.
tf141soldier (5:15:36 PM): Well, actually a role-playing shooter.
crimson666angel (5:15:49 PM): Ooh?
tf141soldier (5:15:50 PM): Combining first-player elements and RPG elements.
tf141soldier (5:16:09 PM): Like Borderlands, Mass Effect, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., BioShock, all the good stuff.
crimson666angel (5:16:26 PM): Ah, hehe, nice.
crimson666angel (5:16:32 PM): What`s the main plot?
tf141soldier (5:17:16 PM): Well, in Fallout 3, you're born in a Vault to your father, James. Your mother dies giving birth to you. At 19, your father leaves and the whole Vault (Vault 101) goes insane. You have to escape into the Capitol Wasteland, set in D.C.
tf141soldier (5:17:30 PM): This follows your adventures in the Wasteland. You level up, collect weapons.
crimson666angel (5:17:47 PM): Interesting
crimson666angel (5:18:17 PM): In online, what would you do then?
tf141soldier (5:18:18 PM): Your karma also has a part in the game. Do bad things in the game (like killing innocents, pickpocketing, looting the town), and you'll get bad karma. Do good things, and you'll be good. There's also a neutral karma.
tf141soldier (5:18:39 PM): In Online, there is no main plot. This is completely player-and-side quest based.
crimson666angel (5:19:25 PM): Hmmm, I imagine that`d be fun. What`s the timeline?
tf141soldier (5:19:54 PM): Fallout 3 is set in the 2200's (same with New Vegas). Online will have no relation to it, but it will still be in a Wasteland.
tf141soldier (5:20:25 PM): The team at Masthead Studios and the people at TF141 Media (who currently work under Bethesda, creators of Fallout 3 and New Vegas).
tf141soldier (5:21:10 PM): Unfortunately, the original Fallout 1 and 2 creators, Interplay Studios, are filing lawsuits to Bethesda under rights to production of Fallout Online. Right now, Masthead and us are taking care of it, while we're fighting for Bethesda.
crimson666angel (5:21:55 PM): What`ll happen if they win though? The game won`t be allowed then, will it?
tf141soldier (5:22:31 PM): Either way, it will more than likely be produced. However, Interplay and Bethesda were part of the success. Masthead is here to fill in the blanks while they fight.
crimson666angel (5:23:23 PM): Will it have problems though, if they don`t comply?
tf141soldier (5:24:11 PM): We can't say for sure. Interplay (if they win) will go back to the third-person gameplay from the original games, Bethesda (if they win) will do the role-playing shooter elements from 3 and New Vegas.
tf141soldier (5:24:27 PM): The other games in the series, though, (Tactics and Brotherhood of Steel) will have no relation to it.
crimson666angel (5:25:23 PM): Will it be much different from the other Fallout games?
tf141soldier (5:25:52 PM): Well, this will be the first Fallout game to EVER be online. The last games had no relation to anything else besides single-player.
tf141soldier (5:26:17 PM): We're also attempting to use a new game engine, besides the Fallout 3 engine Gamebyro.
crimson666angel (5:26:26 PM): Graphics wise and weapons wise though
tf141soldier (5:27:07 PM): Ahhh. Well, who knows? We'll have completely new locations. Unlike 3, where everything was irridiated and barren, Online will have different locations in all. Weapons will be really new, in particular a bow and arrow.
tf141soldier (5:27:46 PM): We'll also add in some incendiary ammunition and explosive ammunition, Sniper Scopes, extended magazines, and you can customize the camouflage of the weapons.
crimson666angel (5:28:14 PM): Nice...
tf141soldier (5:28:23 PM): Yeah. Indeed.
tf141soldier (5:28:46 PM): We'll also use a different digitally mastered ink-and-paint system for the colors, cinema, and textures.
tf141soldier (5:29:05 PM): I can show you a video of what Fallout 3's about, if you want.
crimson666angel (5:29:13 PM): Alright, sure
tf141soldier (5:36:09 PM): We lost connections for a minute. ):
crimson666angel (5:36:17 PM): It keeps saying you`re online ;^^
tf141soldier (5:36:31 PM): Same here. Anyways, wanna keep talking about Fallout?
tf141soldier (5:36:36 PM): Or are you bored?
crimson666angel (5:37:15 PM): Hehe, I`ve never played it, but it looks interesting
crimson666angel (5:37:23 PM): Tis up to you though~
tf141soldier (5:37:26 PM): Yeah, wait'll you get into the story.
tf141soldier (5:37:45 PM): It's pretty addicting.
crimson666angel (5:38:32 PM): RPGs tend to be
crimson666angel (5:38:46 PM): Does what you choose to say effect the gameplay much?
tf141soldier (5:39:05 PM): When it comes to karma? Hell yes. There's some real decisions you have to make later on.
crimson666angel (5:39:46 PM): Hehe, I love moments like those. Although sometimes certain choices make you end the game. Is it the same in fallout?
tf141soldier (5:40:49 PM): In the ending, there are three decisions. You have to go into a radiation system unless you want the whole thing to fail. You can choose to go in yourself, have a partner go in, or just ignore it. Any choice will end the game unless you have DLC.
crimson666angel (5:41:05 PM): DLC?
tf141soldier (5:41:11 PM): Downloadable content.
tf141soldier (5:42:09 PM): It's content you can download online in order to enhance or further a game experience.
crimson666angel (5:42:29 PM): Is it made by the game people, or do hackers do it?
tf141soldier (5:42:56 PM): Game people.
crimson666angel (5:43:17 PM): Hehe, ok
tf141soldier (5:43:56 PM): You do have to pay for most of it, but some of it's worth it.
crimson666angel (5:44:17 PM): Only some? lol
tf141soldier (5:44:49 PM): There's a lot of it that's overly expensive or boring, or both.
crimson666angel (5:45:43 PM): Well price is always an issue these days. The boring bits aren`t too long though, right?
tf141soldier (5:46:06 PM): Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. Fallout's alright.
tf141soldier (5:47:26 PM): Wanna know more about Online?
crimson666angel (5:47:35 PM): Sure
tf141soldier (5:47:47 PM): Alright, so wanna how about the gameplay?
tf141soldier (5:47:52 PM): *know
crimson666angel (5:48:09 PM): *nod*
tf141soldier (5:48:30 PM): Okay, so you'll be set in various locations. The level cap we're planning is from Level 1 to 40.
crimson666angel (5:49:10 PM): cap?
tf141soldier (5:49:31 PM): You'll have various weaponry to deal with. Some are from the previous games, like Plasma Rifles, Chinese Assault Rifles, Tesla Cannons. We'll have new stuff like Crossbows, Machine Guns.
tf141soldier (5:49:38 PM): A level cap is how high you can level up.
crimson666angel (5:50:35 PM): Ah. What exactly levels up though. Health, or what, damage and such?
tf141soldier (5:50:45 PM): Some more weapons include a Tesla Rifle. We'll have various weapon properties, like it has incendiary ammo, explosive ammo, has a scope, has an extended mag, has more accuracy, etc.
tf141soldier (5:50:51 PM): Leveling up helps everything in general.
tf141soldier (5:51:02 PM): In Fallout, you having something called S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
tf141soldier (5:51:17 PM): Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck.
crimson666angel (5:52:02 PM): Ah, so it all adds up
tf141soldier (5:52:06 PM): You'll have abilities you can raise as you level up. Small Guns, Big Guns, Energy Weapons, Medicine, Sneak, Melee Weapons, Unarmed Weapons, Survival (like food and endurance).
tf141soldier (5:52:23 PM): It does. You'll also have perks you can choose as you level up. That'll be included in Online.
crimson666angel (5:53:24 PM): Like what
crimson666angel (5:53:25 PM): ?
tf141soldier (5:53:58 PM): Perks that'll give you special abilities. Upgrading weapon damage, stimpak (which is a health kit in the game) increase, there's a lot. Play Fallout to understand.
tf141soldier (5:54:19 PM): And you don't mind that I'm going to put this on my web log, do you?
crimson666angel (5:54:28 PM): Not at all, go right ahead
crimson666angel (5:54:47 PM): The fact I`m a stranger to the game might be an issue though
tf141soldier (5:55:15 PM): Okay, another big thing we're going to include are working vehicles. In the old Fallout games, everything that ran on electricity, for a good 60% of the Wastelands, nothing worked.
crimson666angel (5:56:01 PM): Ah, so will more work then?
tf141soldier (5:56:04 PM): Here, we'll include armored vehicles, flying vehicles, and something we call the 'Zero Gravitation' (though we're still debating on it), which can hold up to six players in one vehicle, and it can fly AND drive.
tf141soldier (5:56:21 PM): And they will work more. Your weapons will still need repairing.
tf141soldier (5:56:31 PM): In the last couple games, your weapon's condition was important.
tf141soldier (5:56:53 PM): You had to repair it yourself with another copy of that weapon, or go to a vendor to pay a price.
tf141soldier (5:57:01 PM): And V.A.T.S. may return.
crimson666angel (5:57:08 PM): V.A.T.S.?
crimson666angel (5:57:18 PM): Wait, how often would you find a vendor?
tf141soldier (5:57:22 PM): V.A.T.S. is a limb-targeting system.
tf141soldier (5:57:35 PM): And a vendor is at any modern cities or caravans that you'll find on the road.
tf141soldier (5:57:54 PM): In cities like Rivet City and Megaton, there's a lot of vendors.
tf141soldier (5:58:03 PM): Wanna know more about V.A.T.S?
crimson666angel (5:58:29 PM): *nodnod* So certain areas would give critical hits or more damage?
tf141soldier (5:59:50 PM): V.A.T.S. is a targeting system. You press a button and the enemy freezes in time. You can choose a limb, and it will tell you the percent chance you have to hit it. You need to have Action Points (AP) to hit him in V.A.T.S. Use all of it, and they have to recharge. You have a limited amount of AP, and it takes a while to charge up. Don't trust V.A.T.S. all the time, but it does help if you're in a bad situation. You can also choose to target two-three enemies at once.
crimson666angel (6:00:41 PM): Nice. No rush there then
tf141soldier (6:01:33 PM): Nope. It's more than likely going to return.
tf141soldier (6:01:37 PM): Anyways, I gotta go.
crimson666angel (6:01:51 PM): Alrighty, thanks for talking^^
tf141soldier (6:01:52 PM): Visit my web log if you wanna look over it!
tf141soldier (6:02:00 PM): http://www.alecmarintf141.blogspot.com/
crimson666angel (6:02:09 PM): I will thanks
crimson666angel (5:14:31 PM): Hey, what`s Fallout Online?
tf141soldier (5:14:39 PM): Ah, good to see someone.
crimson666angel (5:14:51 PM): Hehe, I know nothign however
crimson666angel (5:14:53 PM): *ng
tf141soldier (5:15:02 PM): Fallout Online is an online multiplayer game we're working on to the popular Fallout series.
crimson666angel (5:15:17 PM): Hmm, I`m guessing tis a shooter game?
tf141soldier (5:15:24 PM): Unlike the last games that were single player only, it's online.
tf141soldier (5:15:28 PM): It's an RPG.
tf141soldier (5:15:36 PM): Well, actually a role-playing shooter.
crimson666angel (5:15:49 PM): Ooh?
tf141soldier (5:15:50 PM): Combining first-player elements and RPG elements.
tf141soldier (5:16:09 PM): Like Borderlands, Mass Effect, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., BioShock, all the good stuff.
crimson666angel (5:16:26 PM): Ah, hehe, nice.
crimson666angel (5:16:32 PM): What`s the main plot?
tf141soldier (5:17:16 PM): Well, in Fallout 3, you're born in a Vault to your father, James.

Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk Cheats
Do people selling on Amazon really think we're dumbasses? Check these out.
Look at Image #3. £66 for The Best of Crush 40. Compare that to US dollars and that's 97 - 98$. That's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I could buy this album on Playasia.com for about $36. How ridiculous is that?
And a Kindle is selling used for about $240. Why buy the 3G Wi-Fi Kindle for $240 USED when I could buy the $189 version like that?
Image #1 isn't by a cheap user, this is Amazon themselves. You have to pay $1 for a 9-second skip from The Marshall Mathers LP. Uh.... what? Why pay $1 when you can just click the 'preview' button and it plays the whole thing?
And Image #2 really takes the cake. Nearly $200 for an album that I could buy at Gallery of Sound for a hell of a lot less?
I think Amazon's users really have to watch it if they want to sell anything.

Fallout Online / 3 / New Vegas - This Goes Out To The Fans
One lucky fan gets his signed $60 copy
Here's an extraordinary story that's going to be covered: there was a group of five fans (UK gamertags EXOduS56, AsiaVH11, WalesGamer161, thekingdomofgamers, and GARAGEINCMASTER) eagerly awaiting the release of Fallout Online, AND Fallout 3. Until one day they could stand it no longer. And so, AsiaVH11, WalesGamer161, and thekingdomofgamers (respectively called Tony, Michael, and Nathan), hosted an event to make an online-members Fallout game. Here enters GARAGEINCMASTER (called Stephanie, the only chick helping), and EXOduS56 (known as Jon). Unfortunately, they were the only contenders. Using a number of leaked game programmers, a Photoshop, their own personal HQ, and help from various websites, in nearly three years, in late 2006, early 2007, FALLOUT: THE RECREATION was born.
The game was a massive hit. 1,000 members in the Americas signed up to play, 250,000 worldwide eventually going to play. It earned them over $3,000,000 American dollars in revenue.
HOWEVER, the leaked game programs' owners soon figured this out. And so, FALLOUT: THE RECREATION (FTR) ceased to exist. However, they were devoted. They went on several now-defunct websites. More of the LLCs continued to find the websites they were on, until finally a lawsuit was filed. In a valiant battle, the studios, combined, only got about $4,500 in $1,500,000 fines.
Isn't that amazing? Even in the way of several threats from the companies, they continued to strive forward.
We'll be covering the entire story. There will also be several questions from the fans that AREN'T appearing on the show that will be included in the interview with the five awesome gamers.
The interview will come in a later post. At 7:30 - 8:45 eastern time, in the UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, Spain, Greece, and Japan, the "Day 4 of 9 Days with Fallout: This Goes Out To The Fans" will air. Check it out!

The Vault - Entry 9 - Other Fallout Online Updates
Alright, here goes: The fight against Interplay and Bethesda is still going. Then again that's not a surprise. With constant lawsuits against "Project V13" (well, that was its original name back in production).
The beta's been sealed. Whether or not the final project will be finished by Bethesda, the long-playing demo we're planning on will be worked on by us, the Post-Nuclear music studio, and Masthead. No matter what, though, we'll continue fighting until the end for Bethesda.
Next up, there's going to be an entirely different music score for this game. So far, we've already gotten a few melodies in with it, along with a theme composition and menu song.
Here's the thing: Masthead and Post-Nuclear hired completely new guys. They're going to help us on the producing of the Online beta, and, hopefully, the Bethesda-touched final project. We had to help them on their conquests, show them some the basic in-n-outs of the beta. So they'll be praised for everything that goes right, and yelled at for everything that goes wrong. Simple as that. We were able to ship some weapon and armor designs overseas (which I'll update in a later post), as well as some new animation design.
For those that played Fallout 3, you're probably used to the entire game being a desolate, decrepit, and irradiated wasteland, right? Well, Interplay's planning COMPLETELY new locations besides the usual sand, rocks, and sun. Here's some ideas we're planning: (and I'll give out some leaked images, but don't tell ANYONE)
- Snow City. Taking a twist on the BARREN wasteland full of DIRT, Snow City is a frozen tundra. It's a really good chance to from allies with one another, take on the packs of (most likely) cannibalistic raiders.
- The Cage: This one takes a shot at Fallout 3's downloadable content: The Pit. It's one of the largest maps we're planning. It's a massive arena, built entirely around a former city ('till the bombs handled the city themselves, that is), and you even have the choice, as numerous, endless side quests, to take on challenges in the arena, alone or with a party.
- Lost at Sea: Talk about a sunken ship! Here, you're lost in uncharted territory (big surprise THERE), as you fight amongst people on the ship! Cool, right? Eh, it looks better on paper.
There's going to be a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Online coming sometime in mid-April, maybe late, airing on Mars UK as a half-hour special. Including will be special documentary footage, a commentary while showing off 1-2 minute snippets, talk to TF141 Media and Masthead about the making of, news on Bethesda vs. Masthead, and an image gallery.
Oh, and we're giving out signed copies of beta disks for those who want it. Europe and Japan only, right now.
As I said, updated images later.
